On June, 2020, South African singer and rapper, Sho Madjozi accused Nigerian superstar of telling Stormzy’s team to take ‘Own It (Remix)’ which featured her down from streaming platforms.

South African singer accuses Burna Boy

To prove her accusations, Sho Madjozi also posted evidence on micro blogging site, Twitter.

She wrote;

“For those asking where the #Ownitremix is, after I got nominated alongside him for BET

Best International Act, Burna boy asked Stormzy’s team to take down the song immediately.”⁣

She noted that the song was on streaming platforms for a month before Burna Boy asked

Stormzy to bring it down, she then asked the ‘Gbona’ crooner to keep up the bad altitude.

Burna Boy who was not pleased with the accusation then replied by tweeting;

“Own It is NOT my song.If my voice is on it however it should have been properly cleared.

If the remix wasn’t cleared with the label(Atlantic US) it automatically gets flagged.

Nothing to do with me personally or any award. Always best to reach out professionally.
