As usual Nigerians are quick to jump TL conclusions whenever an interest involves a Nigerian. In that case there has been a ‘rumour’ going round on the internet that Nigerian ace rapper Olamide has been signed in partnership & an ambassador onto Konvict Musik owned by Senegalese-American mogul Akon.

For a fact, the rumouI of being signed is NOT TRUE. Atleast in this moment at this period of writing this piece, Olamide is not signed to nor does he have any affiliation with Akon and/or his music label Konvict Musik. Everything out there right now on the internet is all speculatitos, nothing concrete, nothing official. From a video going viral where Akon was alleged to have ‘made announcement he had signed Olamide onto Konvict Musik’, it turned out really that Akon specifically used the word “focusing” not “signed” when asked which African artiste(s) are on his label at the moment.

Besides we have seen this scenario played out before when someone says something and minutes or hours after it was found out there was no deal in-place at all, just deliberations, discussions. Remember D’Banj also tried to sign Olamide onto his DB record label in the past even after making the same public declaration of aleged signing and news were viral, however it became all false when Olamide debunked the rumour after weeks of speculations.

Interestingly in this is case neither Akon nor Olamide has confirmed or denied the rumour, because as far as I’m concerned it is still a rumour until confirmed or denied – whichever way it comes first. In the past the Senegalese-born American music artiste & business mogul Akon has worked with some Nigerian artistes such as Wizkid, Davido, P-Square, May D, to mention but a few. It is interesting to see how this new rumour plays out.

Until then, here below is the video where Akon was alleged to have made ‘an announcement’.
